Public Records Searching: What Else Needs Saving

When doing searches for people, you will collect a lot of extraneous information in pursuit of the final information that you need.

In tracking down your target, you will come across many addresses, often in different states, along with multiple names, including maiden names, other surnames from possible multiple marriages as well as the names of possible relatives.

It is greatly to your advantage to keep track of all this information as you pursue your search. Each piece of information that you save has connected with it many other things that you need to remember, beginning with where you put all that stuff after you “saved” it.

You need to take notes. Jot down notes about any possibly useful information before you move on to the next name and address search, because it is almost  inevitable that you will want to come back to that previous search as you acquire more information that suddenly makes other information worth looking at again.

Save it as you go to avoid trying to find it again.

Everyone has a place where they save the names, addresses and phone numbers of all their friends, relatives, work acquaintances, professional associations, and other important people, maybe even a movie star or two. Don’t they? Sometimes, I’m not so sure. My wife, for example, is always asking me for someone’s phone number, if that someone is not one of her cell-phone “Faves”.  She uses a manual system for those “other’ numbers.

You Need A Database Program

I use the computer. But, I use an application that allows me to store all the information I need about every name in my list. Sometimes, I need to be reminded about why a name is even in the list.

Oh yeah, I remember now why I have that guy’s name, address and phone number, he’s that nice guy I met at the seminar who told me to call him anytime I needed help with my portfolio. In fact, I see here in my notes that the information he gave me at the seminar turned a nice profit for me. I think I’ll give him a call this afternoon.

I remember where I save names and addresses, because I use my name and address system every day. If it has anything at all to do with names, phone numbers, addresses, phone calls, important dates or appointments, and the supporting information associated with any of those things, I know it’s in my name and address list management software.

Well, most of the time it is, if I didn’t get careless and forget to put it there.
